Is it true that there are tunnels under Witton Cemetry? Something to do with the war I was told. Anyone know?

Alan I lived opposite Witton Cemetery for 28 years and never heard that story. :-\
Aston Hall maybe ???

Hello Alf thanks for the reply i know about Aston Hall and its tunnels the monks used it to escape from the soldiers cheers Alan

There are tunnels around Birmingham that you would not belive and houses that you could go in and just vanish by going down a tunnel under the house I knew of a few, one was in Moseley and anyone who has been a policeman ought to know about the Tunnels going out from town under the Coventry rd
But I still think the info is withheld from the public under the offical secrets act
So dont ask me any more as I might be carted away

When Lucas had the storage area in Oozells St the City Fire Brigade used to use the caves which ran from the cellar area for training purposes.

I have been in a tunnel that you could drive a double decker bus for a number of miles under Brum

When we were kids we were in Perry Bar park and some kids lifted a manhole cover near the front of the park, we all climbed down the iron rungs and at the bottom there was a huge room with tables covered with dozens of telephones, the kids were all playing with the phones dialing up any old number. It was only about three minutes and were were surrounded by coppers and turfed out of there. E.

This topic is fascinating and this site tells a lot about the Anchor Exchange in particular https://www.bignbostin.com/anchor.html. If you Google
Anchor Exchange there are other sites about it. I am not sure about other tunnels, etc. under Brum though. You never know....urban legends and all that.

Does anyone remember the Priest's Cubbyhole, a hidden cupboard right off the main entrance hall at Aston Hall before you go to your left up the main staircase? It looks like panelling but there was a very small room behind it.
