Geff:
First of all, have a brief read of this:-

It's not that disimilar a problem to what Alf posted above, but is more specific to your scanner. It seems that Windows 7, by default, expects the scanner to load via the Windows Image Acquisition driver rather than the more usual TWAIN drivers and Canon have not produced a 64-bit WIA driver.
However, some programs still use the TWAIN driver, e.g. Irfanview, and you should still manage to load using Irganview. It's a good free viewer downloadable from
www.irfanview.com. Once installed, go to
File and click on
Select TWAIN Source and hopefully your scanner should come up in the little box. If so, higholight it and click OK or whatever. Next stick your document in the scanner. In Irfanview, click on
File and then
Acquire/batch scanning and you should be able to scan the document from there.
I'm hoping that this is the problem and that you can use this workaround. It's similar to the problem with printers that I outlined in my first post on this thread.
This may not be the way you want to work, but if there are no 64 bit WIA drivers available, your only choice is something like this
or use a different PC with XP installed and network the two machines together
or install two versions of Windows on the same machine. If the Irfanview workaround will work, it is by far the simplest option.
