Just a quick update:
We asked advice about the burnt area from the Ranger who used to be assigned to us before Council cuts. (She is nw based at Sheldon Country Park).
This is her reply:
Re the regeneration, I suggest you let it grow back naturally and observe what comes.
You might be surprized by what crops up – flowers wise.
You could record the comeback with photo’s.
Bramble pulling might be good then, if this starts to take over there.
While it is freshly burnt it is best not to go on it or disturb it, it can contain harmful material.
What we need is some rain and plenty of it over some months to flush some of the carbon off.
Just observe it.
