Right it is dragging on a bit, so I will show you a photo of the location today.

You are correct, I got too generous with that clue. Here is the uncropped photo showing the old Rootes building and the steeple of St Cyprians Church. The garage was in the way of the Small Heath Bypass and I believe Bristol St Motors moved up the road a short distance to the old Rootes Building.

Thanks for that Phil, that modern day photo was a give away. Once I had seen that the exact spot of the garage came flooding back. Somehow the building you modified slightly in the background made it look like either the outline of a football grounds lighting or gasometer, strange how my brain interprets things!

Lyn anybody who knew the Coventry Rd before it was altered for the Small Heath bypass couldn't fail to recognise the old Rootes building. St Cyprians might have been a bit more difficult.
