OldMohawk is correct its the Junction of College Rd and Kingstanding Rd in 1928. Well done in 1 hour 10 minutes and only the fifth one to have a go.

1st one I've ever had a go at. I might have got it quicker if I could stop looking at Arkrite's aviation link

The idea of the game is locate the site of the photo. Or else some one could say "Oh its in Birmingham" and they would be right. If I was to say every time someone guessed the right district "well its in that district" it would narrow it down too much.

So sorry Jean better luck next time.

Was only kidding Phil I was going to say the Boars Head again and that is right opposite but it would have been a sheer guess. Well done Oldmowhawk. Jean.

I like those old 'telegraph poles' as I use to call them, must have been plenty of wire in the sky on the 8 bar one

Here's the same corner a year or two later - they built pretty fast in those days!
Images shown in next post 2 years later !

The only 'Where is This ?' I ever 'won' on the forum - made my day back in 2009. Perhaps they may start up again....
It is amazing how the junction changed in a few years.

Hi Jean,
I'll have a drive past with Google street view see what it looks like now.
Phil
ps... Just had a look on street View, notice the big tree's gone and the building was up for sale when Google had a look.

Here is Google's up-to-date photo. The Pillar Box in the 1931 photo is still there, although I can't see it in the middle photo.

Hi Phil

I will get around to doing some more of these "Where is this?" posts a bit later, but at the moment I am a bit pushed replacing images at the moment I am about 200 up with another 2500 to go. I have however replaced the one here for you.

Hi Phil,
Thanks, I suppose I remember 'Where is this? 156' because it was the only one I was successful with.
I have lots of photos I downloaded from the forum and saw that one in my folders which led me back to the thread. Thanks for going through the big job of putting your photos back on.
