Where is This? 133

Phil

Gone, but not forgotten.
A little way out from the city and looks to be slightly after the war years, but where is it?

I agree too. Warwick Rd., with Dudley Park Rd. Junction on left.

You are all close, you have the right location, but not from where it being taken. I will admit that there have been a few changes.

Yes it is Dudley Park Rd, Ann B said it was Warwick Rd with Dudley Park Rd on the left. I would imagine the road to the left is Station Rd or possibly Oxford Rd.

I know its changed a lot, but if you think about its the only place you would get that particular view of The Green.

Phil,

If you follow the Warwick Rd. round to the left, pass Burton's, then you would hit Station Rd. and then Oxford Rd. I still think it is Dudley Park Rd. on the left.

Hello Phil Ithought the view was down Warwick Road and the road off to the left being Dudley Park Road the photo being taken from where Stone Hall is or just above Bernie

Phil,
You've caught me out again, memory lapse I travelled that road a million times, I see the next poster has got it right.John.

The current day view of the photo, and a view of Acocks Green from Dudley Park Rd.

What you have to realise is not only have the building changed, but the the road layouts may have changed slightly. If you went further back to the Station Rd junction in the 1940's I would think you would get the view that is in the photo, and Warwick Rd would run in on the right.

I have to admit that I don't have any memory of it looking like that, but the caption on the photo says its Dudley Park Rd, I have known captions to be wrong in the past. What we need is someone who remembers the air raid shelter to the fore of the photo, and where it was of course.

Phil

I remember it from the 1960s and what a mess they have made of it.

Hello Phil if you were looking down Warwick Road towards Westly Road Station Road and Oxford Road would be on the right Bernie

Bernie

I suppose that depends what you mean when you say "looking down Warwick Rd". When I say "looking down Warwick Road to-wards the Green" I mean looking southward from Birmingham City.

Then that puts Dudley Park Rd on the left, Westley Rd and Shirley Rd on the right and Warwick Rd continuing on to-wards Solihull.
