Where is This? 115

Phil

Gone, but not forgotten.
Another nice once rural scene to identify. I will tell you that it is not so quiet today.

Its not Barr Beacon or Woodgate Valley, and it looks very like a farm, but I wasn't around at the time that the photo was taken. So I am unable to confirm it. I can tell you that the white oblong is a road nameplate that I have covered up. So it is not just a track up to a farm.

Phil

Jennyanne do you meen the Driffold or over the road from there. Maybe I'm getting mixed up with the gallery. Jean.

Hi Jean: Not The Driffold area I was thinking of. The pic reminded me of a place just outside of Sutton area. Can't think of the exact area but still has some open farm land. It's a very busy road nowadays.

Maybe it's the drive that leads to your house Phyl?. Maybe not. Is it on the Alcester road?. Jean.

Jean

Not the drive to my house, its too small.

Jennyann

Not sutton coldfield

The Baron

Not Canwell (whereever that is)

OtherHalf

Not by the M42

And Ladies, wherever or whatever The Driffold is, its not there.

Oh sorry Lloyd just watching Norman Wisdom. Of course it was the big show of the year and most of our stables went with the horses of course. But I found it very snobbish. Jean.

Confession - I only know because where I used to work (North Birmingham Busways) ran the bus service to and from Sutton Coldfield for the show.

Sorry pmc1947. did not notice you were from the other side of Brum.
Canwell is just off the TAMWORTH ROAD by Bassetts Pole if you know were that is?
THEY HAVE A GREAT ANNUAL SHOW.

Of course I know where Canwell is, I purchased my new Massey Ferguson Combine Harvester and my new MF8690 Tractor there this August after watching the Camel Racing in the main arena. I'm from the back streets of Birmingham, what do I know about agriculture.

I used to go fishing up the road at Polesworth, where the river and the canal met. Admittedly I spent more time in the Spread Eagle across the road.

Anyway back to the reason we are here, Sorry Rupert not Maxstoke.

And thats another thing, whats all this about mangle's and wurzle's. A wurzle I haven't a clue, and the only mangle I know is what my mother used to use on wash day. Then later in life after a few beers I was sometimes known to sing a song about catching an unmentionable part of ones anatomy in one.

Excuse me folks but whatever you are on can I have some please????. Jean. Is it anywhere near the Maypole to get us back on track?. Jean.

Jean

Oh dear I've forgot...........hang on.

No I had a quick look at the photo, its no where near the Maypole, but as it is getting late and near my bedtime. I will give one little clue. Its in south Birmingham.

Phil

I thought South was Bristol Road, Pershore Road and Alcester Road South. If i's not near Maypole, then Kings Norton or Longbridge/Rubery/Rednal?

Could be anywhere really but I think those old fingerposts were marvellous, the fingers could be set at a multiplicity of angles; we have some remaining around this area on bridleways and green lanes.
Ted

Nobody close yet, so I will give a huge clue. Many a HGV driver or owner has driven along here.
