I can't find any reference in the directories, at least since WW1, of it being described as Y3 olde Wine Shop. It is always just a grocers, though presumably a licensed grocers. I expect the "wine shop " bit was just to attract custom. However it can be stated that the last time it saw a Crabtree behind the counter was between 1933 and 1936, as from 1936 till its demolition it was run by an Arthurs and then a Wooley, though still using theb /Crabtree fascia. Mind you that is scarcely rare. It is still cadbury but run by the Krafty people

Thanks also Mike. Walked passed and used that shop hundreds of times and didn,t even notice the Wine sign above. Mind you when you are young you only tend to notice Curly Wurleys and Lollipops etc.

smashing pic topsy...i well remember being dragged around the shops in wheeler st...

cheers

My Uncle and Aunt George and nellie Lowe had a hardware Shop in the 60`s in Wheeler Street can`t remember the number of the shop though
