I was two years old when I wore this hat.

Later when I was at school my mum knitted me a baraclava and I hated it. I used to wear it as she watched me set off to school then I took it off when I was out of sight. Lot of young school girls had 'Pixey Hats' in those days.

Thank you.very smartView attachment 165645

Hi Dave I am still in touch with Georgia she has a sister Barbara. Here's me as a lad in Bracebridge Street (not wearing my underskirt that day either Alf) with Georgina Best from next door. I think I've still got those shorts but I've definitely lost the hair!!
The only thing i can think of is hob nail boots! What clothes were you made to wear in childhood? I always remember I had to wear a liberty bodice with rubberised buttons and always a woollen hat. If I didn't wear these my Nan always said I would get pneumonia!
Yep! Finally someone else who remembers Liberty bodices!!I'm sure that the kids these days would not be happy to wear the clothes I wore as a child. I don't remember having much say in the clothes I wore - and all of my friends were the same.
My wardrobe consisted of pleated skirts, hand-knitted jumpers for school and home wear, and frilly frocks for parties.
Does anyone remember having to wear those round-necked underskirts with rosebuds on them? liberty bodices? 'peter pan' collars?
My primary school in south Brum introduced uniform for Juniors in 1966. I had bottle green knickers with dodgy elastic, and hand me down gym slips from my well off cousin who went to a Prep school in Handsworth! Yes Hworth was very posh, then.I wore hand me downs from two older sisters. Talk about liberty bodice, vest and navy blue knickers, I would rather forget them. No wonder I ended up with a stammer and bad nerves. No counseling then. Still , I did not have to wear the gymslips.
never mind nodd..better to have loved and lost and all that lolDoes anyone remember baseball boots?
They were ankle high in black and white made of very firm cotton.
I badgered mum for weeks for a pair, finally got them in time to attend a school friends party.
I thought I was the bees knees until my friend, whom I adored, said she didn't like them.
Thank you Miss Horne;romance over.
Still loved the boots though.
NoddKD,broken hearted at 9.
