Any idea what a wagoner did? - occupation described in 1860 census for rural warwickshire.
 
my father in law was a wagoner he worked for the L M S he drove a horse and dray at All Saints depot
so it was a person who was in charge of the horse and the dray ( wagon)
 
I assume, its similar to a carter, (drives a cart or has a carting business) although I presume there is a subtle difference between Wagon and Cart.
(a quick google should sort it)
