Vincent Kerr

mrbluesky1957

master brummie
Dead end for his father on marriage certificate. Married 1895 to Sophia Neale. Have marriege cert with his father Vincent Kerr, profession, soldier. Apologies if posted incorrectly. Any expert help would be very grateful. Anymore info available other than his father. Tried everything for a long time. There is always someone more knowledgeable and helpful. Will make a decent donation if anyone has proof etc. It's my wifes gt grandfather. Thank you, mrbluesky. Screenshot_20240825_173406.jpg

You may have already looked at these but this is all I could find...

There's a Vincent Kerr listed on the 1861 British Army Worldwide Index (findmypast) though I don't think there's anymore info from that.

There's a Vincent Kerr on the 1858 Military Court Martial Registers (fold3).

And finally there's a Vincent Carr (a reasonable error) b1820ish listed on the 1841 census in Reading. Coincidently there appears to be a Harriot Neale at the same address.

i dont know if this is of any help but both father and son seem to be down as henry vincent kerr on the 1901 census wife sophia...thats is assuming i have the correct person

He calls hinself Henry Vincent, a coach builder, on the baptism record of the son Henry Vincent

On 1871 census there is a Mary Kerr (widow),with a son Vincent and a daughter Harriet
Also listed in 1881 when he is down as a coach builder

Thank you for your time and help again. Yes I found those details yday. So if correct his sister was Harriet M Kerr. If MWS agrees with us. I think he's got that. Then has he kindly says, I need her marriage cert. Good to hear from you. Always get help when needed. Keith

Be careful there are 2 Harriet Kerrs.
Harriet M married in 1881 at King's Norton.
I think the one you want is just Hariet Kerr in 1884 also at King's Norton.

had a look on ancestry keith and sadly there is no marriage cert for either so it looks as though you may have to buy it

Yes totally, but a good bet.
I did have the wrong Harriet. Then things slotted in. I will get the marriage cert. I have a feeling my wifes cousin has it. Not been in touch for a couple of yrs. She had also given up at this stage. Thank you.

Yes of course. Just waiting on wife's cousin.
She has done alot of research so should be aware. I got 4 months on ancestry. Enough time for me to have a nose. My dad's mom side further down the line. Married a French women, so in touch with someone who may know more there. Carnt remember who had The Kingshurst connection? No pubs on the estate. Last one The Punch Bowl has planning for houses. I grew up just up the road. Thanks again. Keithm

ok keith look forward to any updates...i usually sub to ancestry a month at a time and when i have research to do that way it does not cost me much...all the best and good luck with the french connection..if you need any help just shout

I think I had a moan at them. They wanted feedback. So that offer does seem to come up for me. Told them Ancestry is not just for the rich. How about some offers for those who carnt afford it. Maybe they listened. They won't reel me in for full membership. There is always a need to use it though...

Update, Harriet Kerr, married William Weaver. He passed away 1906. She remarried in 1911 as Harriet Weaver, don't know who to atm
Relative has no marriage certs for either. That will be down to me. Thanks all, Keith

Looks like she married a Charles Littley.

Found a baptism for a Vincent Kerr in Belfast 11 Aug 1830, son of a Patrick and Eliza. Without a marriage to Mary (Faulkner) impossible to prove if relevant.

Thanks MWS, thanks for more help. So Charles Littley, brilliant. Relative says has no birth certificate for Harriet Kerr. I can find Harriet Maria Kerr, 1860? Possibly not the right one on bdm. Do you think then the baptism in Belfast a possible? Thanks once again. As previous she has no certificates for either of Harriet's marriages. I can get those if you think may be of interest.

The Belfast baptism could be him but no way to know for certain.

Getting either certificate for Harriet seems a bit of a waste of money to me. I can't imagine what other info on them there would be that would help.

Birth cert for Henry Vincent - what year, what was Mother's name and what address was given?
Father down as John Vincent but Vincent on marriage cert - also different occupations. Harriet's marriage cert gives another occupation.
