Thomas Middlemore MP ?

In researching the history of Edgbaston Archery & Lawn Tennis Society, the oldest lawn tennis club in the world, I find listed in our membership record of 1902 one Thomas Middlemore MP and his wife. He was a member 1865-1883 and his wife 1882-1883. What puzzles me is that I can find no record of an MP of that name. There was a Sir John Throgmorton Middlemore who was MP for Birmingham North 1899-1918. He had a brother Thomas Middlemore who was a mountaineer but not, as far as I can see, an MP.

I have found the Society's membership records to be generally accurate but now question this entry. Do I have Thomas the mountaineer who has been confused with his brother or vice versa?

With no other information it is difficult to decide one way or the other. Anyone have any thoughts?

I have read quite a bit about John Throgmorton Middlemore in connection with Middlemore Emigration Homes. Never was there any mention of sporting activities.

There is a Thomas Middlemore Hon. Sec of the Birmingham Gymnasium Co. Ltd.
Also a Thomas Middlemore, Southfield, Edgbaston in 1872.

Regret not. I’ll be going back to look at the Society’s archive in the Library of Birmingham soon, Covid and cancer having curtailed my research somewhat over the last couple of years. There may be a more detailed reference to them in the relevant minute book.

I keep finding references to Thomas Middlemore of Worcester and Melsetter, Orkney N.B. Anyone know what the N.B. means and could it be misread as MP?

I think Thomas may have been the brother of J Throgmorton Middlemore who was the MP. There father was William a prominent Baptist.
Theodisia A was the wife of Thomas in 1901.

In 1881 Thomas and JTM were with their uncle James.
Thomas (39) is down as saddler's Ironmonger. Their father William had a large Saddlery business

There appears to be an article in the Bham Mail 21 Jan 1939 which seems to say "... Mr William Middlemore father of the late Mr Thomas Middlemore, M.P..."
