My memory of the Swan Hotel in Yardley was Sunday, March 25th 1961. I was invited there for the Sunday evening concert as a guest musician. At the time I was living in Leicester, and had left my lovely overdue pregnant wife, with a friend.
Dashed home after the evening, and found my wife had been taken into hospital for the birth.
One the Monday afternoon I was playing for the Lord Mayor of Leicester at a function. I mentioned to him that my wife had just given birth to a healthy bouncing girl, and he invited me to take the lovely flowers off his table and present them to my wife, which I did.
So yes, happy memories of the Swan Inn, Yardley.
