hi pub crawlers
can anybody recall the pub the mountaineer
it was situated in around kings heath.
sorry its just dawed on me kings norton
and it was down by sisefield rd and down by what used to be the 35 bus terminus kings norton
is it still there ?.
did anybody drink in the pub 10 years ago
can any body recall the licencee and is wife

The Mountaineer was indeed on Ashburton Rd in Kings Heath. I used it in the early 70's for a short while but it was a bit off the beaten track for me. I hear it was closed down recently due to constant trouble at the pub.

Astonian the pub you are talking about in Sisefield Rd Kings Norton is the Primrose Billy Millington had for years i used to play football for them in the 70s

many thanks for that i should have remembered it
i remember billy he came to dublin with us on
a tour of the irish pubs wa back then
plus the fact i lived in sisefield rd wheni first got married
i have got billy on a group photo along with the other
twenty nine other gathers behind the bar
in the guiness factory dublin
if my memory serves me right billy used to run the
college arms up dudley rd spring hill
before he took on the primrose
i also have one of dermot from the college stratford rd
the britt on warick rd
some-body mentioned a pub down the back of dawberry -
field road rd back of brandwood rd but i just cannot think of the name -any ideas

Astonian Billy Milington had the College Arms up Dudley Rd,he had a boxing ring upstairs and i believe Johnny Prescot used you use it.

Every body thought Billy was a boxer,but he never was,he was a lager than character,and a very nice bloke,and his wife,and daughter his daughter lives in South Africa and she is the spit of him

yes you ae quite right i do know billy from the colledge
and for being with us at the brewery and on the trip to dublin
and i also knew johny prescott when he trained at the trees
at hockley before coming up to billys
they was a nice couple they was brilliant on tour to dublin
they was the life and soul of the party
i will try and dig outthe old picture of all the others on tour
i am pretty sure billy is on it
if i remember correctly you and your friend or should i say
our old friend micky used to frequent the colledge as i remember did you ever keep in touch with vera
or should i say your other half
i beleive all is youger brothers all live close together down alum rock i have got there address some where

Sisefeld Rd it was the more than lively Primrose became a members pub now a shop and car washing on the carpark
