The adelphi

Remember it well Postie. I lived as achild near Hall Green but had an older step-brother who lived in George Rd Hay Mills.

The last time I drove through Hay Mills it was still standing, though in a pretty poor condition. I think it is some sort of a warehouse now.

Visited the Adelphi many times pre 1939 and up to its closure, in recent years it has been Asian place of worship and a builders/plumbers warehouse i think its still being used now for some tatty purpose, i lived by The Swan Hotel and The Tivoli cinema, we called the Adelphi " the fleapit" because of the scarabs that decorated the walls inside, it probably had real fleas anyway!!. Len.

Type "adelphi cinema birmingham" into the search option and you will find some relevant threads to cinemas in Brum. Len.

When I was first married we lived in Small Heath and visited the Adelphi quite often, also all the other cinemas along the Coventry Road, this was 1957/58 and most people went to the "pictures" at least once a week.
