Telephone history: Telephone Service in Birmingham

I always thought the STD code for Birmingham, was 021. David!!
The codes changed from 021 to 0121 wat back in 1995
"

16/04/1995 – PhONEday – extra 1 added to codes

The second change of telephone codes saw the introduction of an extra 1 after the initial zero in all UK area codes, e.g. Birmingham changed from 021 to 0121, Lichfield changed from 0543 to 01543. In addition five other areas had their codes completely changed; the international access code also changed."

A year since the last post but Happy New Year.

Through my letter box today, I received a leaflet from a local fast food shop. It had a phone number 0121 824 XXXX and is based in Halesowen. I have never seen a Birmingham exchange code in the 800s before and a search of the codes for each of the Birmingham exchanges failed to show this exchange code. The location is about 1 1/2 miles away from me.
I think that all the exchange codes are or soon will be virtual as the local network is moving into the digital age.
