Sutton Coldfield Corporation Handbooks

Mark Tooze

Charity shop find last weekend - 2 good condition Sutton Corporation handbooks for a quid each - the first from 1962-3:-

And the second from 1965:-

The Mayor's message in the 62-3 edition mentions the proposed swimming baths:-

Whilst the 65 edition preface mentions the soon-to-be-redeveloped Parade:-

An early model of what would eventually become the Gracechurch Centre is in the 62-3 edition:-

Note - we still had local Civil Defence Committees in the 60's.

Whilst the 65 edition has an appeal to cover some of the cost of what-would-become Wyndley Baths (nice idea to "save on the amount to be borrowed" - pity later civic leaders could not take heed of this):-

Wonder how much it raised?

If anyone is interested I will scan and post both documents in full.
