Summer Street

Does anyone have Summer Street on a map, please ? Deemed an 'unnecessary street' by 1912.

It had a pub named the Swan Inn/Tavern, with a licensed virtualler Joseph Brooks (insolvent by1859), G. Morton 1855 and John Southall 1868. This would have been at the junction with Swallow Street.

So a few parts of the street remained (still visible on the 1937 map but unamed). I expect these parts were retained to give access to the College. A new College section was built across the centre of the street. And some other existing buildings also appear to have extended onto the street. Thanks all.

In this photo of the Birmingham Municipal and Technical School at the junction of Suffolk and Navigation Streets, I think the very tall section on the right was probably on Summer Street. It must have dominated the street.
