Hello Dennis
Just came across your post
My father Did his national Service in we believe between 1949-1953,
But was also told he signed up & did extra service not just the standard 3yrs,
I do have a few photos of my late father's time in Egypt while serving his national Service,
The photo album I have of my father's which was made in Egypt around that time,
He served on the Suez canal crisis & we could of claimed a medal on my dad's behalf but sadly we didn't know his army number or what regiment he served in,
I have an inkling it may of been the Royal Warwickshire reg (pBut don't quote me on that)
I may be wrong but think he may of been in the electrical engineeriners
On the back of a few of the photos I've kept of his time in Egypt
One says "Roll on the Boat"
Riffle range in fanana I'm pretty certain I've spelt that incorrectly, ha
Another says he was In Tent 4, Abu Sultan Xmas eve 1950 & in the photo he was inside the makeshift Bar tent & all dressed up with a smart little black dickie bow on,
He had a nickname & was called Binga banga Bonga "Ken"
I will find photos & post a few soon
Would love to know if anyone still around whom may of known a Kenny Burgess (Aka) Binga Banga Bonga
Maybe because he was always singing
Binga Bonga banga in the Jungle
Regards
Lisa
