I remember standing waiting on Platform 6, feeling the train approaching through my feet, as the platform slabs vibrated.
We were on our way to Weston Super Mare.

Such happy memories, of that great place, dad took me as a child, and the engine was a green monster , lots of shining brass and copper, and great hiss's of steam. The driver said I could stand on the foot plate, dad lifted me up, the heat from the fire which was glowing, all around the cab, I remember every detail, though very young, frightened, but awe struck, at the same time, I must been about 5 or 6. !! Funny how some memories last!!

A 'Battle for Fuel show coach' at Snow Hill in 1943. I've seen another 'show coach' from, I think, the war years, but can't remember what it was displaying.

There are some great shots of Snow Hill Station in an episode of the Gangesters - a great 1970s crime series set in Birmingham, now out on DVD

I think there was a real shoot out between a Birmingham criminal gang and the Kray brothers gang from London around Snow Hill.

have to agree mike..think we all understand that we must have progress but does it have to come at the very heavy cost of our history...the station was a great loss and once its gone its gone
