Cracking photo Postie, do you mind if I take a copy as I have been looking for one of Bolton Rd for ages.

I always seem to remember Bolton Rd as being a long straight road, but I was obviously forgetting where it met with Bordesley Park Rd. That left fork ahead would be Cooksey Rd wouldn't it?

The Coach and horses on the Coventry Rd opposite Green Lane with a view of the passageway that led to the stables when it was a coaching inn.
The shops on either side are Cobees Textiles and Shelleys Chemists. Len.

Oh what a fabulous thread.........loads of lovely Small Heath images. I particularly love the one of Bolton Rd as that was a road close to my heart. I seemed to spend most of my childhood tramping up & down that road with my Mom visiting my Nan in Cambridge Terrace.

oh my father was quite enjoying those, some really epic pictures of years gone by he remembers, growing up in the area many years ago, and fine attention to detail. Well done to all involved.

Been trying to find some pictures of 'the Royal Oak' public house, no longer in existence, in Rey Street, cheapside I think it was, around 1930's period, it may well be here on the forum pages somewhere, still finding our way around.

Any memories, or pictures of this establishment would be greatly appreciated.

My sister went to Oakley rd and all our next door neighbours my sister was elizabeth Nesbitt her best mate was june protty and our nieghbours were the sheriffs from herbert rd

There used to be a sweet shop at the bottom of Herbert Rd (Cov rd end) and the lady who lived there was a Mrs Anslow ???

not sure but they lived in regents park rd I know her brother Wally drinks in what was the Albert by on bordesley green unfornately we moved from Herbert rd and lost contact

Yeah, used to get groundbait there for fishing. Could ever see how a seed merchant could make much money in a location surrounded by back to back houses though !
