Enel, your comment on sizing is right on point. I always wore dress shoes to work after my apprenticeship and found regardless of the brand the only size is the one that fits! You had better try both shoes on before you buy!
VivLuuuuurve those Greek dance shoes Maria. Very like our ‘jazz’ shoes. I have moleskin tap shoes and after 8 years they still stink. But you sort of get used to the smell.
A couple of years ago I broke a toe (the teeny weeny one that went “wee, wee, wee all the way home”) and because I couldn’t wear regular shoes, I bought some Crocs sandals. Well I haven’t looked back for summer footwear. I buy the ladies sandals (not the clumpy ones) are they’re a dream to wear. And, of course, ideal for the beach here. And apparently they’re fashionable ! Viv.

Pete, those styles are very trendy at least in the US. I think Nike acquired the Converse brand and many teen and twenties are wearing them as a fashion statement! You are back in style!there are 2 new pairs in my cupboard never raced or rally'd been in there since 1970 some one bought them me and they were too small, i did not have the heart to hurt there feelings

Advice to all teenage girls, forget the fashions and look after your feet you'll be glad you did when all your school mates in their thirties and up have bunions but you're still striding out in comfort.I love those sort of shoes, had some in the past, unfortunately I don't find them comfortable now due to my bunions - they rub my toes
Oh yes, I had exactly the same pair every summer during my early school days in the 1950s. My mother took me up to a shop in Birmingham city centre which I think was called 'Days'.Do you remember your early shoes? I distinctly remember having a pair of these:

I used to be taken to nearby Perry Barr to the England's shoe shop to get my feet measured in one of those X-ray machines. I thought the machine was terrifying, not unlike a visit to the dentists. I remember getting several pairs of these sandals at different times as I grew. My favourite ones were dark red, but I also had a white pair with white crepe soles. And they were so comfy too. Viv.
I'm not sure I had those exact ones, but lots of people did. You see them worn by children in in Ladybird books, too.Oh yes, I had exactly the same pair every summer during my early school days in the 1950s. My mother took me up to a shop in Birmingham city centre which I think was called 'Days'.
Yes, my older sister and I would get the same style every year. Can’t remember the reason, maybe we wore them out! I also remember I had to polish mine but my father did my sisters!?I'm not sure I had those exact ones, but lots of people did. You see them worn by children in in Ladybird books, too.
We had one of those anvils, I remember my father had a special hammer and little nails in a box.My mother still has the anvil that her dad used to fix their shoes on. She was born in the early 1940s in Aston
My Dad used to do a lot of shoe repairs with leather. We also used to put a lot of metal tips on the toes and heels of shoes when they got worn away. Would do that myself. The shoes made a nice sound when walking. My mother still has the anvil that her dad used to fix their shoes on. She was born in the early 1940s in Aston
I also had Scholl sandals and a pair of their clogs. I don't know if the sandals are made now.I also have one, it's a good doorstop now but I've mended many pairs on it over the years.
I liked Scholl sandals, probably couldn't walk in them now! My father didn't like the noise flip-flips make. I find Crocs comfortable for "around the house" instead of floppy slippers.
I had some (nylon) fur slippers when I was little but the fur shed everywhere. Grandad's were brown tartan with brown pompoms.
rosie.
I have three of those lasts, everyone different.
