Scams: telephone, email, texts 2025

Hackers & scammers should be shot at dawn. I was going to say hung at dawn but that`s a bit grisly. If these hackers are clever enough to scam us, then why haven`t we got someone clever enough to stop them in the first place.?
Totally agree with the first part! I have to think that the “authorities “ who ever they are don’t care! Just think how much all of this scamming adds to the cost of all that we do!

Got a text the other day along the lines of "Dad this is my new telephone number". No doubt the start of what would become a scam, because if he was going to change his number he would have telephoned me with the reason why and I had only spoken to him the day before. I told my wife about it and it turns out one of her friends had received the same message, still addressed to "Dad", rather than Mom. I suggest keeping an eye out for this one and blocking the number, as I have done.

That one has been doing the rounds for sometime now, but it catches people out, so think you for sharing it. You can always agree a secret word between family mebers that only they know to validate messages like this.
