I know it is not a sausage but I have just had what must be the poorest pork pie I have had for a long time. Bought from my local family butcher (a lovely term that as if anyone would take their family there to be butchered). Looked good but tasted of stale sawdust with added pepper. How I look forward to my next visit to Melton Mowbray to get a proper one.
I complained to my butcher that his sausages had pork at one end and sawdust at the other end. His excuse was that it was difficult in these days of recession to make both ends meat!. Just the sort answer you would expect from a cheeky butcher!, a laugh with every sausage!!. Len.
That's interesting John. I have never been to McDonalds but the grandchildren to now and again but normally have a burger. Will tell them to try the sausage. Wonder if their round sausages are the same recipe. Jean?.
quite true Barry the best I ever had was from a butcher in Cambuslang love the taste no matter where in GlasgowHave to join in with this thread because the best sausage Ive had in years, is available in all the shops up here, and that is Square sausage, or Lorne sausage as it is known. No matter where you buy it from, it all tastes tremendous. In fact, as its now lunch-time, Im off to make some. See you later, and thanks for the thought of suggestion. Barry.
Not much help but you can get square sausage and other Scottish food delights in Corby due to the high Scottish contingent living there.quite true Barry the best I ever had was from a butcher in Cambuslang love the taste no matter where in Glasgow
