My grandfather Harry bought the shop from Charlie Smith of Steelhouse Lane in 1919. At the time it sold -guns -cycles -motor cycles -radios & gramophones. By the 1930s it was perhaps the leading lightweight cycle shop in the city. My father Dick took over the business in 1946 when he came out of the Royal Navy. He ran it until his retirement in 1972 when the site was sold to Collier Motor Holdings
