Sad News

Thinking of you and your Mom at this sad time, Jim was a great Brummie, im so glad i met him a couple of times, his memory will endure through this forum, which is a Monument to peoples love of Birmingham and is read by people young and old, near and far. Thanks for everything to The Pritchard Family. Max Bullivant.

Warren,

I was so sorry to hear about your Dad, and send my sincere condolences to you and your family.

As teenagers, Jim and I were in the same group of friends.... in and around Small Heath/Bordesley Green - usually meeting after school and sometimes when we should have been in school. Jim and a couple of his mates would often follow me on my paper round.... teasing me and getting up to mischief along the way....all good fun.

Over forty years later, at a BHF meetup, I was asked a question "are you Anne ****** ?" I replied "I used to be". It was Jim. From then on, a highlight of attending the BHF meetings, was to sit with Jim to recall and reminisce about times and people we knew.

I feel privileged to have known the "lovely lad" from Third Avenue and then all those years later to have shared the company of the "good man" he had become... RIP Jim.

It is a comfort to know that you intend to keep the Forum running in the same vein .... a wonderful legacy to your Dad,

Once again, my thoughts are with you and your family,

Annie

A bit late to this, sorry Warren. Sorry for your loss , Dads are special to sons, they mould us, and in turn, we admire them, and love them. I've no doubt he's proud of his son, and would want you to be happy. It'll take time I know, but you'll get there, for his sake as well as yours. Chin up mucker

Warren - I've ve been posting here for a few years now. Thanks for the site - it's a privilege to speak with you all and I appreciate the effort you and your dad have put into this fantastic resource for our benefit.

I am so sad to hear this news, Jim and I go back many years on the different forums, way early than this one, and before the forerunner of this site Astonbrook through Astonmanor and before that was another Birmingham forum which name I have sorry to say I have forgotten run by Peter Gamble I think, which was over 25 years ago now, we also brought and sold books and other bits and pieces on ebay, or yahoo on-line auction sites, I will miss him like a few other members we have sadly lost over the year, my thoughts are with Jim's family and friends .

Thinking of you and your Mom at this sad time,
Jim was a great Brummie, we both worked at Whimbush’s bakery in the 1960’s when he was a driver and I worked in The Creamroom .
I was so glad I met up with him again when hubby and I were over in 2007, hubby and your dad got on like a house on fire I couldn’t get a word in edgewise. lol.
Our condolences once again he will be sorely missed R.I.P. Jim
