Plough Inn Minworth

Does anyone have any information or pictures of the Plough Inn old Kingsbury Road, it supposedly shut before WW2.

It's on the 1938 map listed as the Plough Hotel, though the license was objected to in 1925 and the last mention in the newspapers appears to be in 1927 which suggests it closed 11th Match 1926.

Edward Cater? Newspaper articles list him as the landlord of the Hare & Hounds, Minworth.

There is an article (which you've probably seen) reporting the death of Edward's wife, Ann, which mentions she was a friend of the Mary Ashford who was brutally murdered.

The large Pub to the right of the Picture is the Boat but the Pub to the far left of the picture is the Plough.

In the Warwickshire directories the 1850 Whites does not list a Plough in Minworth, and the beerhouses (which would only be listed by landlord) do not list a Cater. The 1868 Kellys listed William Cater as landlord of the Plough, and is also a carpenter. A John Cater and wife are listed also as living there. In 1880 John is still living in the village, but the Plough is run by Thomas Hanks

There was a William Cater at the Plough in 1808

The two 1830s press extracts mention William Cater.

Ann Cater transferred the licence to William Cater in the 1850s, so presumably, the licence was passed to William Cater (son?)

And there's one about the transfer of the licence in the 1880s from William Cater to Thomas Hanks

Frank Grounds had the Plough Garage in the 1950s. It was in the hands of David Hiam and Peter Riley, racing drivers, in the 1960s.

i think there is a grounds farm around minworth ..not sure if connected though...quite surprised there are so few photos of the plough pub
