Pinfolds and Pounds of Birmingham and its suburbs

Wondered if the pinfold on common land at Pinfold Green, South Yardley, was once marked on a map ? It was located between Stockfield Road and Yardley Road. It was first recorded in 1763. The modern map is below, showing the area today being mostly built over.

I notice there's a Pinfold Farm in that area on the 1886 OS map.

Old Pound was located near the historic Perry Barr Toll Gate and the local thoroughfares. Over time, as Perry Barr rapidly urbanized with the expansion of the railways and housing, the traditional village pound became obsolete and was eventually dismantled

That would mean there were two animal pounds in the Perry Barr area; one at Perry Village and another one mentioned in post #32. If this one was near the tollgate, it must have been somewhere off the Birchfield Road.

There's a Pound Rd in Oldbury and a Pound Lane in Druids Heath. How relevant I'm not sure...

Seems highly likely Neil. I notice a PDSA hospital not far away, south of Pound Road. It could just be a coincidence, but perhaps there's a history linking the pet hospital to animal shelters. Animal shelters like dogs homes for strays effectively replaced some pinfolds and pounds in modern times.
