A point of info on Postie's last picture. Gosta Green itself is in the haze on the right of the picture, a few hundred yards up Aston Street on the right. The junction in the foreground is what was later named Central Place after the Central Fire Station was opened in the easrly 1930s. It was renamed Lancaster Place just after the war I think. The trams crossing the picture are running from Lancaster Street into Stafford Street, en route for Dale End and the Martineau St terminus. The road going off to the top left is the exytension of Corporation Street
From the motor vehicles, it's obvious the picture was taken after 1922, when trolleybuses first ran on the Nechells route, but I cannot distinguish the wires, although they must be there. I would guess the pic was taken shoertly before the old buildings were demolished for the new fire station.
I walked round there two weeks ago - you wouldn't recognise it now.
