Hi Jan,
Nice photo of you with your Gran and Clifford. Can’t say that I recognise Clifford, I think class 1A was Mr. Newell’s class, was Clifford in his class? So many years ago, parts of my time at Perry Beeches are quite vivid. I enjoyed the years I had there. Good buy the Morris, £4! Mind you, you could buy a house then for much less than you pay for a car now.

I also terrorised my Neighbours including racing up and down Dewsbury Grove in my Knackered Jaguar E type. My first car was a Ford 100e Anglia that I sometimes had to get a push start from the paperboy, bless him. My friend Arthur Kearney had a similar escort to yours but treated it with great respect as he bought it new which I was never able to do. Happy days.

No Cliff was in the B stream I was in the A stream and my 1st year I was in Mr Newell class followed by Mr P J MacShanes to be called by him a crook like your brother before you he couldn't spell either

can you remember the guy down by the opening in the gully to Dewsbury with a Ginetta and the little chap with Isseta bubble car

Clifford and I must have passed one another in the corridor on occasions then? Mr, McShane, always had a cigarette on the go, I can see him now sitting on the edge of his desk at the front of the class, blowing out the cigarette smoke. He could be quite brutal with his comments.

I remember the Italian Family who lived at No 34 the Fathers name was Bruno and his Daughter has posted on this Forum some years ago if I remember correctly, this would have been the last house before the Gully coming up Dewsbury. I left in 1970 but my Mother lived there a few years longer before moving to Solihull. I had an Austin A55 which I used when my Etype was off the road, I left it there parked up outside the back of our garden in the gully until my Mother got the scrap man to take it away.

Hi, I definitely remembered Clifford's name, and recognised him immediately from the photo. As I remember he was quite tall and seemed nice. I think he must have had friends in the A stream, because he always seemed to be around. . Yes, one of Mr McShane's favourite descriptions when someone stepped out of line was to call them a crook.

he used to hang around with Roy Lambert and Pete Espin they are still good friends now I wouldn't have called him tall gangley yes but thats because he is my brother

Hello Jan, how lovely that they've stayed friends all this time. (I've moved around so much, unfortunately). I remember Royston getting picked on by some teacher for suddenly turning up with sticky up hair - and it was only slight - we thought it was cool!

Sorry about the quality, I got it from someone on another site. Mr G Newell's class 1A - Must have been Spring? Summer 1963 I should think. Wasn't sure if I'd posted this before, but for those who haven't seen it - can you spot yourselves or your friends?

Nice surprise the school photo. I don’t have any photos of my time at Perry Beeches. I am sitting next to Mr. Newell and it was great to spot John Greaves sitting on the other side of him. I remember the person sitting next to me but can’t put a name to the face. I do remember the name of Royston Lambert, mentioned by Jan a couple of days ago.

Hi Jenny, I think that is Tony Hill. I remember a lot of them. I can zoom in on my picture, which helps a lot, but it seems it can't be done on here...don't think so anyway.

I went to the school many years before the dates in the latest posts so always get alerts when someone posts.

There was a Gillian Brown in my class at Birchfield Road Juniors, I think she did go to Beeches Senior and would have been a 1st year in 62/3.
I can't quite bring her face to mind after so many years but that could be her.

Yes, Jenny, that's Gillian, next to (I think Alan Clarke? then Susan Williscroft?, John Greves. There are others I'm more sure about.

If anyone on here was at Dorrington Road Infants circa 1956...before being consigned to Doodleboys Hall (sorry, Perry Beeches), I've just uploaded a picture on a thread I created for Dorrington Road Infants and Juniors. I couldn't find one for the school, so sorry if I've doubled up somewhere along the line.

Thanks Mary, your memory is good. I was pleased with myself for recognising Gill and John! Like you I moved around a fair bit so didn’t stay in touch with any of the class. I bumped into Alan Glover when I was about 20, we did a day trip to London together and met up a couple of other times but lost touch again.
