hi and welcome...do you have anymore info about your gt gt grandfather such as when he was born and i am taking it his name was actually samuel also the names of his parents could be useful...the more info you can give the more we maybe able to help

Hi his name was Samuel Sheldon born around 1870. My dad’s name is Paul Sheldon born 03/03/51. They lived in the back to back houses. My grandads name was John Sheldon, married Joan malabar? Or Ward?. They were cousins to the family FALLS. The Sheldon’s were very well known around south yardley and lived on Beirton road.

hi and thanks....sorry for all the questions but do you know when samuel died or who he married..there is a samuel sheldon born 1868/69 on ancestry with a criminal record as long as your arm but i cant be sure he is your samuel sheldon..one of the records gives a mug shot of him..convictions were in birmingham..says he was born in dudley

Hi yes my nans name was Joan Jarvis. Sorry I was confused as I lost all the information and she passed away a few years ago. Her funeral was in town at the church by the pavilions (now primark). There’s were hundreds of people

Yes my uncle John and Micheal passed away , they stayed around yardley by millhouse lane. Mark has a jewellery shop in the jewellery quarter. My dad Paul and brother are also in the gold trade. Theres much friction in the family as the peaky blinder blood is still present lol

yes they called my grandad Jackie. Micky was my uncle and Paul was my dad the boxer. They live in yardley.

Hi Jon. My Gran was Florence (Floss) Timmins nee Sheldon. Your grandfather Jackie's older sister. Who brought him up because your great grandmother who we all knew as "Granny Sheldon" couldn't cope. My dad was Ron Timmins, cousin to your dad. So I guess that makes us 2nd cousins.
Don't know if you can get to talk to Jacqueline but she is a mine of information on the Sheldon family history.
I will sort out all I know about the Sheldon's over the next few days and let you know.
In the mean time, here's a photo of all Floss' children with your Granddad. Pictured are Sheila, Lilly, Ron (my Dad), Siddy, Jackie (Your granddad) and George. All except Lilly sadly passed now.

Wow this is incredible, thankyou very much. Yes 2nd cousins haha . I grew up in castle Bromwich and that’s my grandad, he was a very quiet man when in the house. I’m know they all had a hard upbringing.
The only person I’ve ever really spoken to is Gillian. The family was fractured after my Nan Joan and grandad as they both died within simliar times, plus some trouble over business.
I literally have no pictures of anyone and only one of Joan and Jackie.
My dad Paul did speak about granny Sheldon and some of his older relatives.
Is there any information on who Jackie Sheldons dad was ?
I would love to hear as much as you know and have any pictures.

Hi Jon. Here's some of the info I have.
Your Grandad was the youngest of 6 children. Eldest was my gran Florence (AKA Floss) who married Walter Timmins (AKA Jack). Then there was Louie who married a Mr Ward followed by Annie (can't find any info about her) then Kate who married a Mr Nicholls and George who is believed to have been killed in WW2 but I haven't been able to substantiate that as yet.
Due to the Romany connections, any info beyond that is somewhat sketchy. I do know that our Gt Grandads name was John but as yet i haven't been able to find his birth year he married Annie Bache who was born in either 1885 or 1888. Both John and Annie were said to have been born on the Black Patch but John is registered as Dudley born so perhaps Dudley was the nearest registry office .
Gt Grandad John was at some point listed as a "Bargee" working with his father but as yet I have been unable to find out what his name was.
The only person I can find in our family tree with the name Sam was one of Granny Sheldon's brothers Samuel Bache.
Hope that fills in some of the blanks for you. I will post a few photos later, though I don't have many. I do have more info about the Sheldon family history but I might send it on a private message.

Been doing some searching since this morning. This is what I've found out.
Firstly, Sam Bache was not Annie's Brother, he was a cousin.
Our Great Grandfather was also John and he was born 1884. I can now confirm that Annie was born in 1885.
Our Gt Gt Grandparents were on the Sheldon side
William Sheldon b;1848 in Gloucester and Mary Ann Sheldon b;1856 in Derby
And on the Bache side were
William Bache b;1855 in B'ham and Selina Bache b;1856 in B'ham.

It’s hard to get your head around when explaining. So your dad was Jackie’s nephew and you are a great nephew. What is your name by the way ? I would be happy to talk on email. [email protected].
We realised that we are actually from a Romany decent and my brother wife didn’t just marry a gorger, which can be frowned upon in the travers community. She actually has married her kind in some way haha
I live in chemsleywood now, by mom is still in castle brom. My dad has just moved from coleshill.

@Jon birmingham sheldon @chocks2 I have researched both your Sheldon ancestors and the real Peaky Blinders Sheldon family.
Your Sheldons originated from Hatherop, Glocs and your Great, Great Grandfather was William Sheldon.
Unfortunately William Sheldon was born William Shayler 1848 and his father was James Shayler/Shailor.
William moved from Hatherop to the Aston area and married Mary Hardy 4 Oct 1875, by that time he had changed his name from Shayler to Sheldon.
I have worked with a cousin/2nd cousin of yours, Natalie Sheldon over the years on this project.
I can also say that DNA studies have confirmed the Shayler surname.
Whilst the families of John Sheldon and Annie Bache live a couple of streets away from the Peaky Blinders Sheldon's and no doubt knew of each other and perhaps even drank in The Garrison Pub, they were not related.
The Peaky Blinders Sheldons were originally from Dudley and moved to Birmingham c1876-77.
There was a Romany group in the area and Samuel Sheldon's 1st wife was from that clan.

As Neale mentioned I’ve been in contact with him for nearly 20 years, trying to get to the bottom of this. Got lots of of certificates and data that I could share with you. Dad (uncle Pete) did a DNA test, it confirms that we are related to the Shaylors from Gloucester! Nan on the other hand was from Irish descent, her dad got killed in a Biking incident. @chocks2
John Sheldon was born 1885, I have his birth and death cert. Annie Bache was born in Southampton, I have her birth and Death cert. Again happy to share my email address is [email protected]
