Re: looking for granddad

Simon, I have had a quick look and I can find no marriage in the 1950's for an Irene Parkes. Even a Muslim ceremony would need registering at the Register Office to comply with the Law. I would suggest you locate your mother's birth certificate first, and that should tell you a couple of things. You can either put your mother's name on here and one of us will find it for you, or send me an Instant Message and I will do the necessary.

Re: looking for granddad

Hi Simon

We would all like to help, to start off do you have you go your mom's birth certificate?
(Sorry Shortie should have read your posting more closely)

When did you grandmother die and what was her name then ?

Re: looking for granddad

mom was was born in 25th may 1955 sheila ann susan parkes in birmingham im not sure if her dad is even on the birth certificate and i do think my mom was told that her parents were married by muslim law as sumthing to keep her happy as a child rather than the truth i suspect
as 4 my nan when she died she had been married a few times she even changed her name for one of her husbands from irene to sadie as he liked that more and she was buried as sadie
but saying that as a kid i often heard her being called sadie or rene
my nan had a way with names i dont think she married granddad ali at all but if she did bet she used rene

Re: looking for granddad

I think the Electoral Rolls information that is available only goes up to 1955 at the moment.
