Interesting, obviously that area has been redeveloped and the post box is still there. That's the kind of thing I'm looking for, hoping to find some more in similar circumstances, for example, Broad Street.

Use the map link in post #48 then look on streetview to see where abouts they are.

There is one by the Law Courts but it looks to be a modern design

That looks like a 'bullet' style postbox, introduced in the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Thanks for pointing it put though.

No idea of the age but I was surprised that this box was GR. It is on the grass verge outside Hall Green Library

Postboxes do get moved and reused. The only map I have of around there now( oldmaps demise ) is the same as the one on the NLS site. (1903) No buildings or anything there except very close (considering any inaccuracies on positioning the superimposition of the present day version almost at the same place) is a milestone.

Yes, we have a GR where I live and the estate was only built in the late 70's!

What a strange colour Kat! But I see that it was painted gold as an olympic celebration of showjumping.

They were painted to celebrate local gold medallists from 2012 Olympics. We have two in Stratford upon Avon at the top of Bridge Street. They are quite a tourist attraction.
