Lyn. You say your aunt worked up the cranes. She might well have been in the forge dept like Astonian and I. But they did have cranes in other dept's, so maybe not. Maybe Alan could help?
Then we found ourselves on the Quays by the docks and there was a pub with sawdust on the floor. The music from it was nice but there was a fight going on. My mates dad said the sawdust was to sop up the urine and the blood.
Nico,
My wife, God bless her (!), was born on Ushers Key in Dublin, more years ago than she cares to remember and if she reads this I'm dead.
I have (vague) memories of a pub on or near Soho Road where the clientele was largely Irish, and they had Irish music and singing going most weekends. Does anyone else remember this?
Sorry for going a bit off-thread.

hi BG..can you recall if the pub was a smallish one...theres plenty of pubs on the soho road but somewhere in the back of my mind and i will have to find the thread im sure i read that the beehive was a great place for a sing song...as you come up soho hill from the flyover its on the right just before its changes to soho road...i was down the old end earlier this year and took some pics of the beehive..its been in a very sorry state for years now...
Hi Lyn,
No, sorry, not the one I remember, but I'll be honest and say that back in those distant days I did like my drinkies probably a little too much for the good of my memory cells. I think the pub I recall was further up towards West Bromwich. Does The Ivy House/Bush or something similar mean anything?
Is The Beehive next door to what was Rusty's Jamaican Restaurant? If so, I did go in there just once, the night a bunch of us went to eat at Rusty's. It was good food, too, and I was sorry it closed down. A real fun place.
