I was very interested to see your information about your step-father Malcolm Dyche and the Dyche studios as I am working on an exhibition to be staged next year in the Library of Birmingham that will feature photographs from the studios. It would be great to get in touch with you - would that be possible? Thanks - Rita.
Welcome Rita. I’m sure our members would like to be kept up to date about the exhibition if you’d kindly let us know through BHF. And if there’s any material you can (or are able to) share, or indeed need help with, we are always willing to help. If so perhaps you’d like to start a thread exclusively for that purpose.

Great pictures of old Brumijum, brings back so many memories, lived on Elvetham Rd next door to the sweet shop, not the posh side, an Island at the bottom, Piggot St of the Island, and Bell Barn Rd turn right bottom of hill.

I know that I've been to the roof garden, but annoyingly can't remember details, though think there was a small bridge over a stream. So it was good to see the photos.
A Mr and Mrs Smith were the licensees of the White Horse at one time. They were addressed as Sir and Madam by the staff, how times change.
My Uncle Ben Keen lived ar 6/34 in 1939
My brother was Assistant Manager at George Mason, the shop to the left of it was O&N Miles pet shop.

I Know you posted this a long time ago in this thread post 988
it caught my Eye as I was going through these great pictures, as the building was
very close to where we lived in Lawrence St about (50 feet) from our house
not wanting to nit pick, but I think you will find the side street was Duke St
going down to Coleshill St. we often played in these streets as kids
and interestingly I believe the Business is still going today, in another area of Birmingham

Yes, a lovely picture. Morturn, the building behind looks like a business doesn't it? I'm trying to picture the park without the pre-fabs which were built post-war. The railings are right for the original park. I'll try to find a map.

Some slight edits on these 1920s photos
1_Obviously Erdington High Street, the churchyard wall and tramtracks visible.
2_They are sitting inside a park with a road behind and possibly a shop.
3_The boy stands looking relaxed (cool) with high waist trousers and braces just like the clothes I wore in the 1940s.
4_Interesting motor bike, and she sits side saddle.

And the sandals in no. 3 - they were still being worn in the 60s and maybe 70s.
