No. 6 tram from Perry Barr would take you into the city - I don't remember the Old Crown and Cushion - But I did the New one - Like RegHorton I went dancing there -

The difference between the old crown and new crown has nothing to do with the age of the buildings,its to do with the pub signs,one has the new crown on it and the other the old cown.
Can any body add any thing interesting to this.

Have not got a clue what you are talking about Mossy as I cannot see any crowns but If I take a guess at what you are talking about it would be a Kings Crown or Queens Crown (but thats knowing about heraldry)

The crown has been used in the coronation of every British Monarch since Queen Victoria, by whom it was considered too heavy, she was crowned with the lighter State Crown.
This is one of the old crowns......and who did they say destroyed the previous crown

Sorry about that i tried to cut and paste pictures of the old queens crown without success,one of the crowns was melted down by Oliver Cromwell,
i was just trying to establish which was classed the old crown and which was the new crown,because outside pub sign of the old crown was the old crown,and outside sign of the new crown.
All i wanted to know if there was any body out there who could enlighten as to the the differance between these crowns,nothing to do with heraldry,just thought i would mention this after seeing the photo on this thread

Mossy... In Heraldry it shows the difference between all Crowns Royal Crown, St Edwards, Queen Alexandra's Crown etc old and new when they were used and, on what....Now I understand what you are trying to say but without a picture it was quite hard...its easy to date badges etc by either the Kings Crown or Queens Crown or Naval Crown etc ...but now going off the topic
PS Most Kings and Queens had their own crowns and some altered the previous owned crown
The official state crown (St Edwards crown )should always be worn or present at a coronation as it is the official crown of England but as it is to large was rarely worn
