great photo steve...a kellys look up should solve the location of this one
 
Although this must be recognisable to someone I can not offer much there is a George Newnes shop, is that the clocktower of the council house in the background and if so are we down John Bright Street area?. Bus coming towards us and a lady in a large (fur) coat, apart from that not much to offer I am afraid

The name on the building on the left looks like R A? Patterson.

mike can you check to see if james charles stephens is the landlord of the colmore arms latimer st please..pretty sure steves photo is of latimer st...if you compere it to this photo..its on a slope..lampost outside the pub and the pub looks the same..thanks mike..

Lyn, In later years they did not include the landlords of most pubs, but in the 1956 edition, George Hodgkiss, hardware dealer is listed as next door

silly me i forgot that mike but if george hodgkiss was next door to the pub then we have the correct location of latimer st..

Very familiar, bus coming towards us is in John Bright St. The road to the left of "Newnes" is Suffolk St. The photographer would have been in what is now Holloway Circus,

Bit of Black and white to start, this is Pershore Road from 1971, P.S. Harrad clothing, then TV repair shop, interestingly the TV shop is owned by Reeve, Carter and Corbett and the shop to the left is also owned by a Corbett, relatives (?), nice to see these independent shops. Fine Ford parked on the wrong side of the road under a long list of parking restrictions!

from the folder marked walls we have this hording from 1973, It is in Grange Lane and is unassuming apart from the adverts for property auctions, Bearwood Ice rink and 122 Park Hill Moseley, a Victorian character Residence, a few others from Solihull, something we tend not to see today.

another wall this one from 1973, I have it as 329 Green Lane Bordesley, however I street viewed the address and the view is actually Charles Road. Nothing much apart from a small hoarding for Lem Sip, and the irony of the Bill posters will be prosecuted sign. I cannot imagine a hoarding so small today. Interestingly the Bill Poster sign is still there .

Now this one is a test for you all, all I have is 1982, not sure if I missed the address off. vacant land on the right , a large hoarding, and a bridge which judging by the fire doors on it could be over a canal. ( The doors giving access to the water for the fire service). Only other thing is the Ford escort estate driving away.

I love the symmetry of this building, not much leading on the windows but large etched windows on the front. I also like the two lamps at the front and the edging of the main door with its circle motif in the corners. Small van parked out the front, half on the pavement but no other traffic. Building on the right has some interesting uses of doors for blocking of windows and the ground floor is fully boarded up.

This is St. John's Church on the Walmley Road it was completed by Daniel R. Hill, in 1843-5. It is a Grade II listed building, the description can be found here:-

Something a bit different, meat market with a selection of animals , many chains and tracks to help handle the weight of meat. Not the Smoking Proibited sign - one would hope so, and the overalls, which look well used although I would imagine they would not stay clean long in this business.
Note also the butchers block, zinc topped table and trolleys.

Here we have an interesting view of the council house and a totally different road layout from today, hard to imagine how the traffic movement worked. The lorry has travelled along Colmore row and is now turning to go either down new Street or along the front of the Town Hall. Similarly the Midland Red bus looks to be heading for New Street. We have Queen Victoria sat on her own grass island and the top of the new GPO tower is just peeping over the Council house.
