This was a book i really enjoyed. The true story of the author during WW2 an Australian fighting in Malaya and his capture by the Japanees and his 4years in Changi prison. The illustrations were done by Ronald Searle, who was also a prisoner, he later became the creator of the St Trinnians Girls. Well worth a read. All the best formula t

Yes I've read this book too. Very moving. There are quite a few other books that have been published, some recently about men who were Japanese prisoners of war which are equally as good. Angie81

I remember when Russell Braddon visited Birmingham in the 1950s. He came to The Ex Servicemans Club in Hill Street before it moved to Summer Lane. My uncle (Bill Astle) was secretary of the club.

I bought the book in 1955 on New Street Station priced at 2/6p I was on my way back to camp to continue my National Service and and also a couple of others.
