Mom's 'Cures'

Crommie sooooooooooo glad you know about this ointment, thought i was giong round the twist for a mo ;)

Slyvia   that must have burnt!! i use that stuff all of the time with my job and it bloomin stings.

I can't remember what the ailment was, but Mom used to send me over the road to the local shop for something called Indian Brandy which was dispensed from a small barrel as I recall.

I well remember Indian Brandy... :) it was supposed to be a cure for..... wind >:D

Cromwell - that's the tin I remember my nan having with Zam buk in (or Blackjack as we'd call it). Where do you find these piccies?

There was always a little bottle of Indian brandy in our cupboard, yep it was for stomach ache.

We also had Parish's Food, it 'built you up'. :)

When my kids were babies I used to give them gripe water - you can't get that anymore can you?

I also remember (think it was called) Ellimans Embrocation - smelly stuff you used to rub on your muscles after playing sports matches at school. My dad ran a local Sunday footie team and we always had some in his kit bag - it smelled of mustard and vinegar. :basketball:
