Medical Card Reference Numbers

Christina

master brummie
I'm not sure where I should post this, so please forgive me if I've gone in wrong place.

On the 1950 Electoral beside the name of my Grandfather it says QAXR/182/1 and my my Uncle QAA/6058524.

What does this mean?

thank you

Christina

I'll assume you've been looking on ancestry and if you have it means nothing. Their records have been transcribed by text recognition software and is prone to mistakes. It hasn't been checked by humans.

If you check the original image you should get better info. I have found this when checking electoral rolls on Ancestry.

Christina, I think the reference numbers you quote are related to medical cards (not NI numbers) I seem to remember seeing these on buff coloured medical cards in the past, perhaps this will jog someone's memory who can give you a full explanation.

You are right Sylvia, they were on those buff coloured cards that we called national insurance cards. Mine was green and our numbers were QCIH 205/1- 2-3. We had them during the war and long afterwards.
