It certainly is, I thought at first that it was a B&W image that had been colourised but it's genuine. It was originally scanned and posted by SteveBHX.Brummy Lad nice view of the Greyhound pub in the coloúred pic
When doing my apprenticeship in the 60's if my pocket stretched to it midweek, I'd go there and fetch a sandwich John(gaffer) Popes misses did a lovely corned beef and tomato or a salmon sandwich .It certainly is, I thought at first that it was a B&W image that had been colourised but it's genuine. Brummy Lad are you saying that the building in photo 32 is one and the same as photo 44 ?Last image showing Thomas Plant, on the far right of the image the name John is visible, it could be the factory of John Henry Gibbs (mfg. perfumer) listed in Kelly's 1939.
No, Post 32 is the Davenport's Garage, Post 44 is Thomas Plant. Mike has just supplied verified the Davenport's Garage as #26/27 which is great as I couldn't find anything in Kelly's.Brummy Lad are you saying that the building in photo 32 is one and the same as photo 44 ?
Thanks Mike, exactly the information I wanted.Using the names and numbers you have given, i did find the following. Thomas Plant was only listed as at Plumbob house or Edgbaston ST

Some amazing Birmingham history thanks for that. After a bit of nourishment at dinnertime , I started to think about the couple of years I worked in Upper Gough St i remembered a night I dropped into the Gough arms and got chatting to a chippy(carpenter) from The Alexandra theatre. Anyway he told me he was working locally , and I went on to tell him I needed a block plane for the edhes of wood.I naturally thought he was at the theatre when he said local , he was actually nearer than that he was in one of those units in Marshall St . He was standing outside one saturday lunchtime as we'd just finished he managed to get me the plane and I've still got it . now with regard to the garage I've found this little gem.
