Marsh Lane Erdington shops

Good evening all I’m hoping you can help me

During the 1940s (I think 1947-1950) my father lived at a shop as a child on Marsh lane Erdington with his family the Jones’s he could recall it being a general store and they were the middle of a row of 5 shops. Dodds decorators being at one end I’ve never really found very much about the shops and sadly my father passed away in 2022 I’ve always be interested in the time they spent at the shop he also attended Slade road school before they returned to Water Orton to live.
I’ve looked online but not really found very much unfortunately I don’t know where else to look
Thank you

Hi Jenny1702, the photo above brought back lots of memories for me. We used to walk to Erdington Village through the little cut-through to the left of the row of shops. This would take us into Summer Road (Lane). Opposite the shops was another cut-through which was wider and led onto Shortheath Road and Court Lane. My husband's aunt lived in Rose Cottage which was off this. (They didn't have electricity until the 1950's). I was reading about these paths and they are remnants of old trackways. Marsh Lane was one of the oldest roads in Erdington.

I lived just down the road from the shops there was Dodds, a barbers, sweet shop and ladies hairdressers, had my hair done there on my wedding day in 1961.
I remember that Mrs Dodd was very proud of being related to Engelbert Humperdick,
