When I look at this and the other photo of the Bristol that Lyn posted, that’s what remember. Why can’t the build with architecture with character today? It seems that most gets pulled down after 50 or 60 years.not sure if this is a new one but worth posting anywayView attachment 193722
I used to go to the market with my uncle and cousin, fish and vegetables early in the morning and there seemed to be errand boys all over. And to be a5 11/12 they all seemed to know what they were doing!Post #110 gives a date for this photo as 1890ish, so it had already been standing for at least 60 years. Presumably, the many young lads (who outnumber adults) could be errand boys or similar, earning some welcome cash. Must have been plenty of call for erand boys. This photo shows the Worcester Street side, which in many ways, was far more impressive than the Bull Ring side.
Wow, what a fab image, I have just found out from the 1921 census that my grandfather Alfred Hugh Palmer was a fishmonger working for E Davenport 21 Market Hall. So this can’t have been very far away and infact my grandfather might be one of the lads in the photo any idea when this photo was taken?I think this is a stall within Market Hall. The windows look like those of the Hall. Ted Davenport's fish stall, probably stall #16. Viv.View attachment 87077
