Machin family Erdington

There is a marriage in 1823 marriage, Charles Machin & Mary Ann Littlehayes. Mary Ann also appears in 1851. Charles is referred to as “Chas junior”, and could strongly strongly imply that an older Charles alive and well-known ?

Could they be related further back to the Spooner family (banking - Attwood and Spooner) ? Unusual middle name for Edward. My family sometimes used surnames for middle names, useful for tracking ancestry. Could add to an explanation of where some of their wealth came from.

Charles Machin appears at Blythe House on the 1851 census as farmer and builder, employing 30 men !
He has a son, Charles (26) down as a coal merchant.
GH is 9 at the time, and Edward Spooner 3 years older.

The 1841 census gives a Charles Machin as 45 and a builder, with a son Charles W Machin (15)… Living on Lichfield Road.
There is also an Elizabeth Littlehales Age 70. (This name has cropped up somewhere before)

[Later found…1823… Married Chas Machin jnr of Erdington, to Mary Ann, eldest daughter of Mr Littlehales of Erdington.]

The above fire is dated 1843, and in 1845 we have a Charles Machin mention as Surveyor in connection with the sale of the worn-out gravel pits.

In March 1844 there is a mention of Chas Machin Jnr.

The 1841 census quoted above it also gives a Mary J as a daughter (12) and Ellen E (7).

In May 1846 at Erdington there is a notice of the death on the 15th of Mary Jane (17), eldest daughter, and on the 26th Ellen Elizabeth (13), youngest and only surviving daughter of Mr Machin of that place.

So sad.
