I am currently taking an on-line course through Future Learn, hosted by researchers at The University of Nottingham, The University of Birmingham, and The British Library. Called "Learning from the Past: a Guide for the Curious Researcher."
Being overseas, any research I do, for now, is on line, and knowing how to research is important. Just searching with google is very limited, considering other options out there. Am only into my second week, but love the course. It will definitely help with my research on Birmingham history.
 
Those Future Learn courses, part of the Open University are excellent and have some really interesting content. Enjoy.
 
BTW, Future Learn has another course:

I'm doing my part to save pubs from extinction: I visit them as much as possible!!

Did the course continue to live up to your expectations? I am overseas and am interested in historical research/information on Britain. Particularly that dealing with industrial progress and development.

It was a good course. Not looking at a particular period, but rather how to do historical research generally. There is more to doing it than just googling a term. Only drawback, a lot of the course was focussed on using the British Library, but due to a cyberattack, a lot of the British Library's resources are not accessible. But otherwise course was good. Like any on-line course based on honour system, it's up to you how you do it. Yes, if all you want is a certificate, you can read a lesson, or not even bother to read it, and click on "step completed". Keep doing this, complete the course, and voila! Instant certificate. But if you want to actually learn something, read and take notes on each lesson, follow and read all video and audio links, and related readings. Read the comments, and comment on your own. If you are determined to learn something, and know that your certificate actually means something, you can!

Thank you, I am not looking for a certificate, I appreciate your comment. What I am looking for it to learn and understand, it is the content and intellectual honesty that I seek. Do you have any course access information that you can share?
