Ah yes...I can see where there original photo was taken now! I know King Edward House, two of the Inland Revenue District Offices were in there too, back in the 60s and 70s.
This was the plan for King Edward House. The facade seems to be as per the plan. The building was built on the former King Edward School site - a controversial move at that time.
Most people agree that nothing could adequately replace Pugin's KEGs building. But the 1930s King Edward Building in its place is, all the same, striking. There's a problem, however. How do you get to appreciate it's architecture ? To me, it almost seems too big for that part of New Street and you can rarely get a full view of the whole building.
