Kidderminster carpet museum to reopen

Not enough history preserved about the carpet industry. My mums family were in carpet manufacture (not Midlands, but Yorkshire). When a van was delivering down in Brum we'd sometimes get a roll of carpet dropped off. And it was quality.

Pity there's not so much produced here now. At one time didn't Belgium pose a thread to the Kidderminster carpet trade ? Don't know why I thought it did.

Belgian carpets were usually made using other materials, like cotton, viscose or similar synthetic fibres which made the a lot cheaper that those made from a larger percentage such as wool. The principal difference was that were made ai a fixed sixes whereas in the UK the fashion was for fitted carpets.
