Have just found my dad's old garden book and will endeavor to put some photo's on the forum later from it. They are quite funny as well as informative. Jean.
I look forward to that Jean. I remember when I was younger a couple of newspapers always had a picture strip about gardening. What was in the strip was always relevant to the time of the year.
Thats great Jean. But didn't they go to such a lot of trouble. Most people these days buy their turf. We just can't wait. Must say, I have sowed a few lawns in my time, but it was more luck than judgement.

Hi Jean, you cant garden from a book, get out there in the rain and some dirt and compost under your finger nails, tidyed up a cheese plant for you when you want it Bye, do you like the little story I sent you?
Take care now Bernard
Looks like a great book Jean. Am I imagining it but wasn't there a column in one of the papers...not sure if it was national or just Brum with a gardener under the name of Adam? There was a drawing of him and he had a rather square chin.
Having a sort out [again] today I found another lovely book by Enid Blyton. It was my first nature study book and has some lovely prints in it. It came out in 1953 and I still won't part with it. Jean.
Dave your book looks like it is in perfect condition. I am afraid mine is missing the cover and has squiggles all over it when I allowed our twins to doodle in it:cry::cry:. Most of it is still in tact thank goodness. Jean.
Thanks for that Dave I particularly like the kitchen garden bit as I am going to start growing my own. Going to look through my ol gem of a book later to get some tips. Stitcher has given me some ideas too. Jean.
