Hello, Alan Fisher here, born at the Sorrento hosp, used to live on the cov rd small heath, by the park, above the butchers shop nxt to Devoti's (Italian brothers Leo and Tony) sweet shop. from 1950 to 1966 the moved to stechford till about 1971 then moved to tamworth. Now living in Southampton. My parents used to own the Candy Shop in station st back of new st station, nxt to them was cinema that showed the cartoons think it was called the Tatler, and the rep theatre was just a few yards down the st. Hope to come across some old mates, looks a great site.
 
Welcome to the forum, Alan i remember the Devoti Ice Cream shop on Coventry Rd from years ago, hope you find some old friends. Len.
 
A very warm welcome to the forum Alan. I was also born at the Sorrento, and a friend worked at a florists on Coventry Rd. by the park.

The Cinema is now the Electric and has had a revamp, take a look....
