Jogesh Chandra Bose

The trees I looked at don't seem to go back beyond Jogesh and Florence
Yes Pam regarding Jogesh. Florence Rose Maddocks tree goes back along way. My mom was a Maddocks. Alot of research there. Jogesh is the dead end being born in India 1896. Must be someway getting info but never tried India.

You would think that the place he studied in Baltimore would have records. What they would contain and when (if ever) they might be released to the public I don't know.
He studied and qualified at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore Famous for medical education. They must have records. We know when he arrived her from Southampton. He must have studied a few years .

Bengal was a large region and his exact birthplace would be somewhere in Bengal (some parts nowadays in Bangladesh)

Interesting that his father was a “land owner” !

This may be of interest also…note the address in London.

Thats great info, so in London from Southampton. physician/dr/surgeon. Yes i looked at map and Bangladesh. Father a landowner.Thank you once againm

The connection with Brown Shipley may suggest that he may have arrived with financial arrangements already in place rather than simply stepping off the ship looking for work.

And just noticed that his religion was down as Hindu, and yet he married in a Baptist Church. The eclesiastical experts may know if there would be a problem !

As his father was a land owner it looks like he came from a wealthy family. It could well be that it was all planned, educate in US and the progress to England where he was more likely to obtain a practice ?

There was uprising in Bengal 1895. We suspect as a landowner was shot and killed after his birth That's really weird Hindu marrying in a Baptist Church
Selly Park, slot of mons family where in Selly Oak/Park area.
Looks like he was well looked after and plans made I will pick the brains if a relative over the weekend. As Florence Maddocks was her aunt..
Thank you for your efforts and new information.

Also on Ancestry, but beyond my payment range, there are other records for JC Bose, including WW1 Reg Draft, a Maryland US newspaper article, a US school yearbook, 1920 US census, o/g passenger lists. These could add info ?
